Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, was born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both attorneys. As a young girl of just five when she left for Oxfordshire and enrolled at an Oxfordshire-based Dragon School. Emma was inspired to become an actor at age six. Through the years she was enrolled in the Oxford branch Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. In the school, she was taught singing dance, acting and singing. By the age of ten she had performed and taken the lead in various Stagecoach productions as well as school plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone The 2001 film adaptation from J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was cast in 1999. Emma was discovered as a casting agent by her Oxford drama instructor. David Heyman announced to Emma that following eight auditions, she and Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. Emma's first film on the screen took place in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone which was released in 2001. This film was 2001's highest production, and it broke records during the opening day as well as the first weekend. The film was praised by reviewers, and so were the performances of its three new stars. The Daily Telegraph, an influential British publication, described Emma's acting "amazing". Emma won the Young Artist Award as the most outstanding young actor in an Film. Film. The actress was nominated five times for her role in the movie.
